Cinnamon Sticks

Cinnamomum Verum

Organic & Conventional

Sample testing of mainland Tanzania has shown the cinnamon variety to be the same as that from Sri Lanka and Madagascar. These tests indicate essential oil content with the absence of coumarin, DNA tests and E-Cinnamaldehyde level in line with Ceylon.

Our small farmer partners hand cut cinnamon stems, wash the stems to remove any dirt or moss that could affect flavour and scrape the outer bark from the stem. The outer bark is then carefully peeled from the stem in sections and laid to pre-dry in the sun. The pre-dried cinnamon is then carefully shaped into sticks and dried for another four to five days. The sticks are ready when moisture is less than 7%. Sticks are sorted by diameter and cut into different lengths depending on customer request.

Air and ocean shipping available. Stick quantity and total kilograms in a container depends on customer size request.
Standard packaging is food grade polypropylene bags with a Tanzanian Bureau Standards certificate. Environmentally friendly food grade jute or locally sourced sisal options are available for a premium.
